Contractor that specialises in civil engineering works for the rail sector requires a Quantity Surveyor, with the opportunity for hybrid working available, based in either Kent or Essex. Long-term contract opportunity with the potential to be outside IR35. Duties: * Prepare accurate cost estimates, cost plans and budgets for civil asset management schemes * Price remits from a schedule of rates * Provide support to the tendering process, including bills of quantities and contract documentation * Montor costs against project budget, identifying potential savings and areas where budget might be exceeded * Ensure compliance with company policies, client standards / requirements and all relevant legislation * Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Design Engineers etc, giving commercial support across all stages of the projects * Manage subcontractor packages, to include procurement and settling of final accounts * Value variations and change control * Create and present commercial cost reports for both internal teams and the client Requirements: * Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, working on civil engineering projects, ideally within the rail industry. However, a QS with civils experience in the utilities or construction sectors will also be considered. * Experience pricing civils works at a value of up to £250k * Strong understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract * Excellent communication, commercial and analytical skills Excellent opportunity to join an organisation that has won a large amount of work in CP7, so can offer long-term security.
