Job summary
We are looking for a Consultant Community Paediatrician to come and join our friendly service in Wiltshire. Community Paediatricians are an integral part of Wiltshire's childrens community services, and the team are working to harmonize provision and develop services and pathways across the region. Providingan effective, evidence based and timely community paediatric medical services to children and young people with developmental disorders to assist children in reaching their potential.
Our Service
Community Paediatrics is a team of childrens doctors in Wiltshire who see children and young people and their families in the community.
We investigate and diagnose children with a range of difficulties including Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and delayed development.
Our paediatricians listen to, assess and decide the best way to help children with a developmental impairment, physical and/or learning disability or complex health needs ( Autism or Cerebral Palsy).
We also carry out specialist assessments of school-age children; where there is a concern regarding a neuro-developmental disorder, for example, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASDs).
Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Community Paediatrician in HCRG Care Group Wiltshire youll join a tight-knit, supportive team where youll be working as part of the health care system in Wiltshire where we deliver services across the child health department.
The post holder will also assist in the clinical supervision and coordination of the work of trainees and specialty doctors, as well as participating in peer support.
1. Deliver developmental paediatric clinics, assessing children with a range of concerns that are affecting their development or educational potential, in accordance with our established referral criteria. This includes medical assessments for the SEND process.
2. Perform medical examinations in relation to assessments of Looked After Children, to collate information from other clinicians and complete the relevant forms within specified statutory time limits.
3. Liaise with other health professionals to ensure coordinated management of assessments, treatment and follow up.
4. To participate and contribute to the supervision, teaching and training of other staff in childrens services.
5. To conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for the Department.
