We have a great opportunity to join the team at the Newport International Sports Village - home of the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre, and the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales.
Hours, Pay and Benefits
Hours: 37 per week average on a 3 week rota - see below. Fixed term for three months with possibility of extension.

Salary: £12.60 per hour (current Real Living Wage)

Key Experiences and Qualifications
Essential
1. Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
2. Previous experience working as a Recreation Assistant (or similar) in a leisure facility
3. Confidence in clearly communicating with and managing large numbers of people
4. Good IT skills
5. High attention to detail to deliver exceptional customer service
Beneficial
6. Pool Plant Operator Certificate (essential to the role but not for your application)
7. First Aid at Work Certificate (essential to the role but not for your application)
8. Ability to communicate in Welsh
Role Requirements
Our Senior Recreation Assistants are key to the efficient performance of our operations team; with responsibility for the supervision of our Recreation Assistants to ensure that all required duties are allocated fairly, and that all work is performed and/or presented to a high standard.
Main duties include:
9. Liaising with the Leisure Operations Officer and Receptionists regarding programme of activities for each shift, ensuring facilities are prepared accordingly
10. Pool Lifeguard duties
11. Setting up and de-rigging of sports apparatus and other equipment, ensuring it is appropriate and fit for purpose
12. Allocating routine cleaning and public supervision duties to Recreation Assistants
13. Supervise the conduct of the public in all areas of our facilities, to safeguard the enjoyment of all users
14. Reporting immediately any defects in apparatus and equipment
15. Assisting with set-up and de-rigging for large functions and events
