The National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville is dedicated to the treatment of individuals with spinal cord injury. Physiotherapists are part of the enthusiastic and well-motivated inter-disciplinary team involved in all aspects of lifelong management from the acute stage through rehabilitation and post discharge.
An opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist with an interest and experience in neurological physiotherapy seeking to develop their skills in spinal cord injury physiotherapy rehabilitation to join the team at the NSIC. They will be responsible for their own caseload of patients and provide liaison and communication with other members of the interdisciplinary team within and external to the NSIC supporting progression of patients through rehabilitation. They will be active in supporting the goals of both the physiotherapy service and the NSIC.
Main duties of the job
1. To perform assessment and treatment for Spinal Cord Injury patients with complex needs, and to provide advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.
2. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
3. To participate in continuing professional and service development, and contribute to organisational objectives.
4. To participate in weekend and on call working

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
14. HCPC Registration
15. Degree in Physiotherapy
16. Attendance at post graduate courses in related fields
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
17. Minimum of 24 months relevant post registration working experience as physiotherapist
18. Experience of working with patients with SCI in acute and /or rehabilitation settings
19. Experience of working with patients with neurological and/or respiratory presentations
Desirable criteria
20. Experience of a broad rotational scheme
21. Experience in student clinical supervision
22. Experience of working in the NHS
23. Experience in supervision of junior staff
