Job Description

We manage important Environmental Monitoring systems and datasets. You will join the Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS) and support and learn from colleagues while analysing and improving data that underpins our work.
As a Technical Officer, you will manage Water Quality systems and data, and support other systems as needed. You will work closely with team members and may handle:
* Set up and manage users
* Support users and resolve issues, especially when we move to our new My Environment application
* Update, improve and maintain datasets
* Respond to internal and external data requests
* Support system improvement and upgrade projects

Everyone must undertake training and participate in incident response duties when required. Incident response is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency.

Experience / Skills Required
* Experience working with large complex datasets
* Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems
* Motivated, organised, friendly and helpful with an eye for detail, comfortable in a dispersed team environment
* Proactive and enjoys solving problems
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service
Other Desirable Experience / Skills
* Experience using and managing environmental monitoring data systems
* Experience with PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online, and R
* A working knowledge of water quality monitoring

Work location is flexible, but you must have a base at one of our offices across England and have a presence there. We offer hybrid home/office working, but some travel is expected for meetings.
We expect to hold interviews via MS Teams towards the end of December / beginning of January. Interview dates will be confirmed for invited candidates.

Description: Consults and collaborates with Customers and Partners effectively through awareness raising, education and combined projects, ensuring buy‑in to initiatives and the beneficial promotion of the Environment Agency’s duties and policies.
