Electrician – Level 3 only
Location: HMP Bedford – St Loyes Street, Bedford MK40
Salary: £39,579.20 + 5% shift allowance for weekend work and £1000 in RRA per annum
Contract: Full time / Permanent
We are seeking a fully qualified electrician to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Bedford, a Category B adult/male prison. The role involves working with plumbing, carpentry, painting, cleaning, and administrative staff to maintain safe and secure environments throughout the prison.
Responsibilities include:
* Maintaining and troubleshooting electrical installations in compliance with BS7671:2018 standards.
* Carrying out planned and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
* Collaborating with other maintenance trades and staff to support daily operations.
* Ensuring health and safety standards are met at all times.
* Managing work priorities and communicating effectively with team members.
Qualifications:
* Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition)
* Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds / EAL), including NVQs and competency assessments (AM2/AM2S). For example: 2367 or 2357.
* Minimum of two years’ experience as a fully qualified electrician.
* Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
* Good knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations.
* Good Health & Safety knowledge.
* Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills.
