Consumer Research Technologist (QMS & F&S) at Premier Foods. Based in Worksop (on site approx 3-4 days per week). Permanent. We are British, employing over 4,000 people across 13 manufacturing and office sites in the UK, supplying a range of customers including retailers, wholesalers, convenience stores and foodservice with iconic products featured in millions of homes.
Premier Foods is a leading food business operating primarily in the ambient sector, featuring in key grocery categories such as Flavourings & Seasonings; Quick Meals, Snacks & Soups; Ambient Desserts and Cooking Sauces & Accompaniments. In Sweet Treats we operate in the Ambient Cakes category. We also have a non-branded food business manufacturing products for UK retailers. Our brands are leaders in their categories with high household penetration and broad international presence.
Purpose: As a Consumer Research Technologist, you will work across our brands including Sharwoods, Mr Kipling, Batchelors, Oxo and Ambrosia. You will be part of the Sensory and Product Analytics team to deliver Sensory and Consumer Research with data analytics, driving product quality through research and data analytics and maximising consumer liking while protecting core product loyalty.
What you’ll be doing
* Be the lead contact for consumer research for Quick Meal Solutions and Flavours & Seasonings, focusing on Batchelors, Oxo, Bisto and Paxo.
* Support occasional delivery of trained sensory panel testing.
* Collaborate with NPD, Marketing and Insights Teams to plan and deliver product research using consumers and employees through Central Location Testing and Home Use Testing to assess product and packaging.
* Work with research agencies delivering consumer research; brief projects, ensure best practices, and occasionally attend fieldwork.
* Lead multiple projects across a range of products, delivering research for Innovation, Quality Improvement, Quality monitoring and cost recovery. Involve yourself in all stages: background information, sampling, cook-ups, packaging, respondent recruitment, questionnaire development, statistical analysis and report creation for stakeholders.
* Accountable for Project Management, implementing Premier Sensory Group Best Practices, adhering to Health and Safety regulations, identifying training needs and creating a development plan with your manager.
What we need from you
* A passion for food with a good understanding of Sensory and Consumer Research
* Minimum 12 months experience in sensory or consumer research (including placements)
* Essential: knowledge of principles of Sensory Science & Sensory Evaluation Methodologies
* Essential: Full UK Driving Licence
* Essential: Highly competent in Excel and PowerPoint
* Essential: Numerate with data visualization skills; ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to tell a story and make recommendations
* Essential: Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Essential: Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
* Essential: Problem Solver
* Essential: Enthusiastic to learn
* Desirable: BSc in Food Science/Technology/Marketing or related degree
* Desirable: Professional Sensory Course completion
* Desirable: experience using XLstat and RedJade or similar sensory software
