You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. What you'll do at work You will assist with animal care programmes which would include feeding, watering, socialisation, training and exercise procedures and the provision of clean bedding and nesting materials, clean caging and associated equipment You will assist with the maintenance and cleaning of animal rooms, corridors, storerooms and laboratory equipment ensuring that they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition all to a high standard You will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and in particular those relating to Animal Welfare, GLP and Health & Safety You will ensure equipment is maintained to the highest standards and liaise with management and maintenance to ensure any repairs are performed in good time You will sanitise animal caging and associated equipment using the site Cage Wash machine, pressure washers and other equipment supplied for the purpose You will undertake and achieve the qualifications associated with the apprenticeship framework, namely the IAT Level 2 qualification Career progression towards animal technology is also available for the right candidate after the apprenticeship is completed.
