Senior Process Engineer

With AMP8 underway, we are driving an ambitious and innovative investment period. We are seeking passionate, experienced Senior Process Engineers to lead the design of sustainable water and water recycling solutions across the East of England.
What will you be doing?
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will take a leadership role within our Place-Based Thinking team, guiding and supporting teams across various non-infrastructure water projects. You will bring expert knowledge, mentorship, and oversight to ensure our designs are technically sound, sustainable, and aligned with industry best practices and Anglian Water’s goals.
Key responsibilities:
1. Leading and reviewing process design deliverables across projects.
2. Checking P&IDs, calculations, and 3D models for accuracy, quality, safety, and compliance.
3. Providing technical direction to process engineers in your region.
4. Driving low-carbon, sustainable design thinking into process development.
5. Supporting the development and implementation of design alerts and lessons learned.
6. Ensuring designs meet internal and external regulations and standards.
7. Collaborating with Principal Engineers, Portfolio Design Managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver value-focused solutions.
8. Mentoring and coaching junior engineers to foster technical growth.
9. Participating in site visits to assess process performance and validate designs.
10. Sharing learnings and innovations across the Alliance to promote continuous improvement.
11. Embracing digital design technologies and data-driven processes.
What we’re looking for
* A degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience in the water industry, especially on large-scale water recycling projects.
* A proven track record in delivering robust process designs within multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong technical leadership skills to guide and develop others.
* Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and water-sector process standards.
* A passion for sustainability, innovation, and digital transformation.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
