Your new school
You will be joining a highly supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) specialist school dedicated to providing a nurturing, structured and trauma‑informed environment for young people who have found mainstream education challenging.
The school's primary phase offers smaller class sizes, personalised learning, and a strong emphasis on building trust, emotional resilience and positive relationships. You'll be part of a passionate, mufti disciplinary team committed to helping pupils develop the foundations they need for long term success, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Your new role
As a full time KS1/KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to primary aged pupils with SEMH needs. Working closely with the class teacher and pastoral team, you will help create an environment where children feel safe, understood and ready to engage in learning.Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with varying SEMH and SEN needs.
Assisting with the delivery of lessons across the KS1/KS2 curriculum, adapting learning where needed.
Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and daily routines.
Building strong, trusting relationships to promote stability, confidence and engagement.
Contributing to a calm, structured classroom environment using trauma informed strategies.
Assisting with phonics, literacy and numeracy interventions tailored to individual needs.
Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals.This is a meaningful and rewarding role for someone who wants to help young learners build the foundations for future success.

What you'll need to succeed

Experience working with SEN or SEMH pupils-ideally within a primary school or alternative provision.
A nurturing, patient and trauma informed approach to supporting children.
Strong behaviour support and de‑escalation skills.
Confidence in building rapport with young pupils who may struggle with trust, emotional regulation or transitions.
Adaptability, resilience and a genuine desire to make a difference.
Effective communication skills and a team player mindset.
