Governor – voluntary role
Overview
Truro School is seeking to recruit two new Governors who will help shape the future of our students. The Board of Governors works closely with the Head and Senior Leadership Team, acting as a "critical friend" by providing both challenge and support in equal measure.
Responsibilities
The Governor will support the delivery of educational excellence and be responsible for ensuring the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school. This includes:
* Participating in board meetings and committees
* Providing constructive challenge to the leadership team
* Contributing strategic insights and governance oversight
* Chairing the Estates Committee if legally qualified or a chartered surveyor/civil engineer
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess strong personal and professional values, integrity, and a willingness to challenge and ask questions. Experience in or knowledge of the Methodist ethos of the School is desirable. Particularly sought are:
* Professional legal qualification
* Chartered surveyor or civil engineering background for chairing the Estates Committee
Cornish residency is desirable but not essential. At this time we cannot accept applications from parents of current pupils, as our full permitted quota has been reached.
