Job description

Course Leader – ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy

Casual (Variable & Flexible Hours)

£26.07 per hour (Band E+ Senior Lecturer)

Location: HSU London Campus

Health Sciences University (HSU: formerly AECC University College) is a specialist health sciences institution dedicated to excellent education, clinical care, and applied research.

Following the recent approval of our new university title HSU in July 2024 and the merger of the University College of Osteopathy into the HSU family from 1st August 2024, the institution is in a phase of growth and transformation across our campuses in Bournemouth and central London.

We highly value our mission to ‘create a healthier society through education, research, and clinical care’ with dedicated staff and students working within a caring and inclusive community. We are delivering our Strategic Plan 2021-2026, which will be refreshed soon to reflect recent institutional changes.

HSU offers a diverse portfolio of academic programs and research in allied health disciplines, along with clinical and imaging services delivering high-quality care. These facilities provide students with practical learning experiences, support NHS partners, and foster a rich research environment.

Partnership working is central to our approach as an agile higher education provider and clinical service provider, responding to workforce, educational, and clinical needs of our external stakeholders and communities. As we expand in Dorset and London, we aim to develop a strategic approach to partnership working as a multi-professional center of excellence for healthcare education, clinical care, and research locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

We foster a vibrant, positive inter-professional learning and practice environment within a caring and inclusive community.

About the role

This role will lead the delivery of the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy within the UCO School of Osteopathy, for current students and external CPD learners. The post holder will coordinate and deliver teaching, assessments, and learning resources in line with ITEC standards. You will ensure a professional, inclusive, and engaging experience for learners, many of whom will pursue additional qualifications alongside osteopathic training or professional development.

The role is casual, with flexible block delivery scheduled during weekday evenings and weekends. Hours will vary based on course schedules and cohort sizes. It is designed to be compatible with existing professional commitments and can be planned flexibly with the Head of School. The successful candidate will also contribute to assessment, quality assurance, and external verification activities as needed.

About the person

You will be a qualified sports massage therapist or manual therapy professional—such as a physiotherapist, chiropractor, or osteopath—with experience in therapeutic massage and musculoskeletal care. You will hold or be willing to obtain a relevant teaching qualification.

You should be confident in facilitating practical and theoretical learning, supporting diverse learners, and preparing them for assessments. A commitment to professional standards, ethics, and learner-centered education is essential.

Experience in education is desirable but not essential. This role suits practitioners seeking to enhance their teaching profile within a dynamic academic environment.

Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the UK according to the Immigration, Asylum & Nationality Act 2006.

Benefits

* Subsidised clinical treatments
* Staff development
* Use of university library facilities
* And many more
