Job Description
Newbridge House is a specialist Eating Disorder unit in Sutton Coldfield, providing inpatient services to children and young people aged 8 to 18. The facility was recently rated as Outstanding by the CQC. We adopt a family-centered approach, recognizing that effective treatment must be fully inclusive and supportive of the young person's family.
Following an expansion of our unit, we are seeking additional Healthcare Assistants to support our nursing staff in delivering care plans for our young patients. Candidates should have NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ideally at least 12 months of experience working in a residential clinical environment. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team, undertaking basic physical observations, and recording these on electronic patient record systems.
Principle Duties
* Assist nursing staff in implementing care plans for young people at Newbridge House.
* Perform regular physical observations of patients and report findings appropriately.
* Support and supervise patients during meal times.
* Coordinate with Staff Nurses and Occupational Therapists regarding unit activities.
* Assist in delivering therapies in collaboration with Occupational Therapists and Assistant Psychologists, as permitted and with nursing staff approval.
* Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients.
Note: Duties will evolve over time with ongoing review and consultation with the post holder.

* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Outlook.

* Ability to work as part of a team with an adaptable and supportive approach.
* Experience with IT-based patient record systems (desirable).
* At least 12 months of experience as a HCA in an inpatient environment (desirable).
* Awareness of equality and diversity, MHA, Children Act, and NICE guidelines for eating disorder treatment (desirable).
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and competence in basic physical observations.
