About the role:
* Manage a workload that reflects increasing complexity, risk, uncertainty, and challenge, in line with the capability of a Social Worker with at least one year's post-qualification experience. Regular supervision will follow the departmental supervision policy.
* Work within relevant current legislation and the procedural framework of Bedford Borough Council.
* Collaborate with children, young people, and families/carers to assess their needs and plan and deliver services accordingly.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Build effective relationships with children, young people, and families/carers to elicit their needs and views, promoting participation in decision-making.
* Undertake assessments following statutory, regulatory, and operational standards, policies, and procedures, considering risks to children and young people.
* Plan, implement, and review interventions for children, young people, and families in accordance with standards and policies.
* Manage workload independently, seeking support and proposing solutions for difficulties.
* Utilize supervision proactively for practice improvement, reflection, and professional development, aligning with Performance Development Reviews.
* Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records as per the Council's policies, producing clear reports and analyses.
* Engage with colleagues and organizations to assess and support the needs of children, young people, and families, promoting positive change and independence, with sound judgment about risks.
* Perform all duties in accordance with the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy and other relevant policies, challenging or reporting discriminatory practices.
* Meet the standards of the Professional Capabilities Framework for Social Workers and maintain registration with SWE, adhering to practice standards, conduct, and professional development requirements.
