Role Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and quality-driven
CNC Setter/Operator
to join our busy machining department. Working in a fast-paced commercial environment, you'll play a key role in producing high-precision components for magnetic locking systems. You'll be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machine, deburring finished components, and inspecting their own work to ensure parts meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC milling machines for batch and repeat production
* Deburr and finish machined components to meet surface quality requirements
* Inspect own parts using measuring equipment (e.g., callipers, micrometres, gauges)
* Read and interpret production drawings and job cards
* Contribute to tooling improvements and suggest process refinements where appropriate
* Maintain production output and meet daily targets
* Record inspection results and report any non-conformances
* Keep work area clean and organized, in compliance with health & safety guidelines
* Support the Production team with continuous improvements and initiatives
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Experience setting and operating Heidenhain CNC milling machines in a commercial or subcontract machining environment
* Skilled in deburring and basic finishing techniques
* Confident in self-inspection using standard measuring tools
* Ability to work from engineering drawings and follow production instructions
* Strong attention to detail and quality, ideal for machinists who take pride in their craft
* Good time management and ability to work to production schedules
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, focused team
Desirable Attributes:
* Basic programming or editing experience with Heidenhain.
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
* Fanuc turning experience would be advantageous

Hourly Rate:
£14 - £19 depending on experience
