1. Purpose of Job
Plan, deliver and develop high-quality learning opportunities for students to help them achieve their learning goals, in accordance with the College’s mission, values, and objectives.
Provide professional support in all aspects of curriculum development and delivery, student support, placement, and assessment. This will generally include associated organisational, administrative, and management responsibilities.
2. Principal Accountabilities
The duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer are wide-ranging and include, but are not restricted to:
* Provide high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and internal moderation across various courses, including Higher Education.
* Develop and prepare curricula, course plans, learning materials, assignments, activities, and assessments.
* Monitor and assess students’ progress, maintain records of their achievements.
* Offer tutorship, support students to achieve their academic and vocational targets, and communicate with stakeholders.
* Lead courses, ensuring retention and achievement, including planning, designing activities, and liaising with college departments.
* Interview and guide potential students, assist with applications to Higher Education or employment, and oversee enrolment and induction.
* Monitor attendance, complete records, and ensure accurate data management.
* Organise student placements and communicate with students and placement providers.
* Review course performance, gather stakeholder feedback, and plan for improvements.
* Engage in marketing, liaising with schools, sector representatives, and employers to develop programmes and recruit students.
* Participate in college events, professional development, and contribute to mentoring and quality assurance.
* Support policies on health & safety, safeguarding, equality, and diversity.
* Operate flexibly to meet organisational needs and perform other duties as required.
Generic duties include administrative tasks, covering classes, responding to data requests, supervising students, supporting additional needs, participating in meetings, and assisting in awards and enquiries.
