As a key senior member of our Reward team, you'll play a vital role in shaping and delivering Severn Trent's reward strategy. You'll act as a trusted technical expert on pay, job evaluation and total reward, ensuring our practices are fair, competitive and aligned with both our values and business priorities. Working closely with HR colleagues and senior leaders across the organisation, you'll influence decisions that directly impact how we attract, retain and motivate our people. Your insight will help us create a reward approach that feels both compelling and meaningful for everyone at Severn Trent.
Overview
What you'll be doing
* Compensation Strategy & Delivery: Lead and support our annual pay review and bonus cycles, ensuring strong governance, accuracy and timely delivery.
* Own job evaluation and market benchmarking activity (Hay / WTW), providing clear recommendations on role sizing and pay positioning.
* Develop and evolve pay frameworks that strike the right balance between internal equity and external competitiveness.
* Offer expert advice on salary proposals and compensation structures, using internal relativities, external data and total reward principles to guide decisions.
* Stay close to external reward trends and emerging practices, using insight to shape future reward design.
* Work with the Reward Manager on strategic improvements to our total reward offer.
* Business Partnering & Advisory: Act as a trusted partner and advisor to HR and business leaders, translating complex reward concepts into clear, practical guidance.
* Build strong relationships with business areas to understand workforce challenges and provide solution-focused reward advice.
* Coach and upskill HR colleagues to strengthen capability and confidence in reward-related matters.
* Provide reward expertise on organisational change activities, including TUPE and regulatory change.
* Support and lead business projects as required.
* Insights & Governance: Deliver high-quality data, MI and analytics to support senior-level decision-making.
* Ensure reward processes and pay changes are delivered accurately, consistently and with strong governance.
* Drive continuous improvement, enhancing reward policies, processes and systems to increase efficiency and user experience.
* Benefits: Understand and advocate how our benefits offering enhances the overall total reward package.
* Support annual benefits enrolment activity where needed.
* Work with colleagues to ensure benefits are clearly and effectively positioned within reward offers.
How we work
You'll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we're looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week. You'll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That's why, we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. So, you'll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported, when you need it.
* Proven experience delivering compensation processes in a complex organisation.
* Strong expertise in job evaluation, market benchmarking, salary offers and pay frameworks.
* Experience partnering with stakeholders to solve complex reward issues.
* HR systems experience (ideally SAP/SAP SuccessFactors).
Qualifications
* Essential: A-levels or equivalent (or qualified by experience).
* Essential: Full driving licence.
* Desirable: CIPD or relevant reward/analytics qualifications.
* Desirable: Hay Job Evaluation and/or Willis Towers Watson benchmarking experience.
* Desirable: Experience with Power BI or advanced data visualisation.
