Electrical Estimator – Building Services Location:Hull
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + package
The OpportunityHays are currently working with a well‑established building services contractor to recruit an Electrical Estimator to join their growingmercial team. This is a great opportunity for a detail‑driven andmercially aware individual to play a key role in cost planning, tendering, and project delivery, supporting the continued growth of the business.
The RoleAs an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate andpetitive cost estimates across a range of projects. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure pricing reflects both market conditions and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
2. Develop pricing for labour, materials, plant, and subcontract packages
3. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtainpetitive quotations
4. Prepare and submit professional tender proposals and cost breakdowns
5. Monitor and update project costs as scope evolves
6. Support negotiations to secure best value on materials and services
7. Carry out market research to track material costs and industry trends
8. Support cost control andmercial decision‑making throughout the project life cycle
9. Prepare reports and documentation for internal review
About You
10. Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction or building services sector (essential)
11. Strong understanding of cost control andmercial processes
12. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts
13. Good working knowledge of Excel and estimating software
14. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
15. Confidentmunicator with the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
16. Analytical mindset with a focus on identifying cost efficiencies
17. On‑site experience is beneficial, but not essential
