Job Objectives & Responsibilities
* To develop collaborative working relationships with Mitie and Home Office Operational Management Teams.
* To supervise a designated site security team, ensuring that all contracted and temporary hours are fulfilled to the complete satisfaction of Mitie and the Home Office.
* To supervise the Security team, arrange cyclic rotas, and shift cover for absences, so that security officers alternate shifts.
* Team training and personal development planning.
* Total quality management:
o QHSE – Zero Harm, Live Safe, Accident & Incident Management, Team Health and Wellbeing, Risk Assessment.
o Compliance – AI's, SOP's, Training Records, Screening & Vetting.
o Drive Continuous Improvement and Innovation initiatives.
* Complete investigations and write respective reports for the client and Mitie operational management.
* To protect the customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the site's published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.
* Deliver results that meet and/or exceed the Key Performance Indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.
General Responsibilities
* To proactively demonstrate and work to the Company's values.
* Attire and appearance appropriate for work.
* Comply with Assignment Instructions and Workplace Risk Assessments.
* Screen individuals as they arrive on the premises.
* Check any and all bags for suspicious or prohibited items.
* Inspect all points of entry to ensure security.
* Report accidents/ incidents to TSM Security Management immediately.
* Communicate appropriately with clients at all times.
* Report any extraneous duties to TSM Security Management.
* Proactively review the published Assignment Instructions, suggesting amendments that improve or enhance service.
* Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
* Work systematically, methodically and orderly.
Customer Care
* Ensure all contractual commitments are honoured and, if there is any failure, be the first to escalate in line with site SOP's.
* Complaints must be logged in accordance with the quality system and remedied in a timely and effective manner – report through the OM.
* Ensure the contract is manned to the agreed level at all times.
* Security incidents, breaches and incidents must be reported / escalated to Home Office and Mitie Security Management in line with standard contract SOP's.
* Continuously seek opportunities to add value to the service in support of Mitie's continuous improvement commitments.
Training & Development
* Monitor security officer performance, conduct annual appraisals in line with company policy and develop personal development plans for all team members.
* Liaise with the Operations Manager / Training Manager to ensure that all contractual training requirements are met and certificates are renewed on time.
* Ensure all security officers are aware of the latest training initiatives and are given the opportunity for personal development.
* Maintain team training to meet leading industry practices and specific requirements.
Managerial / Work Performance
* Implement customer corporate policies and codes of practice.
* Manage security and emergency incidents, ensuring the correct operation of security systems and procedures.
* Take ownership of the security operation, constantly assessing and mitigating risk.
* Manage staff on site to maintain high service standards and satisfaction of Home Office.
* Audit administrative, health and safety and quality procedures.
* Support staff with welfare requirements and the vetting process to meet BS7858 and SC clearance requirements.
* Document disciplinary or capability actions and refer to Mitie Operational Management and HR.
* Assist in recruitment and selection of security officers.
Communication
* Support the Home Office contract governance structure.
* Maintain strong collaborative relationships with Home Office and Mitie operational management.
* Develop and manage security related projects and initiatives in collaboration with Home Office and Mitie operational management.
* Provide information on site activity, ongoing issues and future development opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Complete the Security Teams Weekly Update activity report and submit to the Home Office Security Assurance Manager.
Quality
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date assignment instructions for the site, ensuring all officers understand and comply with them.
* Set and maintain the highest personal and professional standards as an employee of MITIE and adopt a total quality approach to every aspect of work, colleagues and client.
