Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist – George Eliot Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist team at George Eliot Hospital. The Haematology team is a dynamic, supportive and friendly multi‑disciplinary team dedicated to providing holistic, patient‑centred care. We are therefore looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is committed to providing the highest standard of nursing support and care to both inpatient and outpatients.

About the role
Working as part of a multi‑professional team to deliver enhanced clinical practice to rheumatology patients and participate in education, audit and application of evidence‑based practice within the specialty.
Qualifications
* Knowledge and experience in haematology and chemotherapy.
* Excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
* Carry out programmes of care and treatment determined by others.
* Manage clinical caseload on a day‑to‑day basis, including making minor modifications within prescribed parameters and reporting back to the Clinical Nurse Specialist and/or Consultant Rheumatologist.
* Provide advice in relation to the care of individual or groups of patients.
* Liaise with other nursing staff caring for clients within the specialty to provide enhanced knowledge to optimise patient care.
* Demonstrate a commitment to best practice and relevant knowledge of the NHS and modernisation agenda, seeking to develop the service as part of the professional team.
* Deliver education programmes to patients, carers and other nursing staff as agreed by the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
* Act as a role model, exploiting every opportunity to enhance the knowledge of others in issues relating to the specialism.
* Provide advice that contributes to the care, well‑being or education of patients/clients including health promotion.
* Participate in research and audit as part of the multi‑professional team within the specialty.
* Ensure that high‑quality data is collected for both audit and research trials, as required.
* In support of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, develop protocols of care and implement evidence‑based practice.
* Provide clinical advice to patients suffering from Rheumatological disease, ensuring that patients are fully aware of treatment options available to them so that they can make informed decisions.
* Provide education and advice to enable patients to adapt to lifestyle changes and enhance their well‑being.
