Fraud Investigator Location: Lambeth Town Hall - Hybrid (4 days remote working, 1 day office work per week) Contract: 6 month contract Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday) Pay Rate: £26.26 per hour PAYE / £34.29 per day Umbrella About the Role: Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced agency investigator to provide short?term cover within the Internal Audit and Counter Fraud function. The postholder will work with minimal supervision, undertaking reactive investigations into allegations of internal fraud, financial irregularity, misconduct, bribery, and corruption involving council employees, contractors, and external parties. Key Responsibilities: Plan, manage, and conduct reactive investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, misconduct, and financial irregularity Gather, analyse, and evaluate complex evidence from multiple sources Conduct interviews with witnesses and subjects, including interviews under caution where appropriate Ensure all evidence is handled, stored, and disclosed in accordance with legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements Prepare clear, concise, and high?quality investigation reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations Prepare cases to the required standard for disciplinary action, civil recovery, or criminal prosecution Maintain accurate records and manage a caseload effectively to meet deadlines Work collaboratively with Internal Audit, HR, Legal Services, and external bodies as required Essential skills and experience: Proven experience conducting internal investigations within a public?sector or comparable organisational environment Demonstrable experience of investigating fraud, financial irregularities, misconduct, or corruption Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex and sensitive information Excellent written communication skills, with experience producing high?quality investigation reports Experience conducting investigative interviews, including interviews under caution Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, including PACE Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities Apply Now Service Care Solutions is proud to assist in this recruitment campaign.
