Duties:
This role is key to enabling the laboratory and supports the Lead Engineer in the ongoing operation of the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dyno with Power Electronics assessment capability. You will engage directly with university academia and third-party engineering teams, supporting your lead engineer in understanding detailed test requirements.
As part of the team, you will be responsible for operating the environmental chassis emissions dyno, including physical activities such as pre-checks and vehicle preparation for testing, managing emission test benches, and preparing test reports. Responsibilities also include installation and instrumentation of the unit under test. Collaboration with laboratory customers is essential, and depending on customer needs, you may be required to report and explain test data.
Your core objective will involve working with your Lead Engineer to operate the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dyno with Power Electronics assessment capabilities.
The chassis dyno within the laboratory is highly utilized by customers and sought after for third-party projects. You will liaise with customers to derive complete technical test requirements, understand and develop test methodologies, operate facilities, and support all processes in accordance with H&S and other auditable standards such as ISO 16949 and 14001. You will monitor activities and work with the team to transfer knowledge to new team members, including familiarization with equipment.
The physical operation and upkeep of the facility are core responsibilities of this position.
Skills Required:
* Experience with AVL SCADA, PUMA, CAMEO, and ETAS INCA, applied to manual and automated engine test facilities, ICE emissions measurement, and initial quality evaluation in both test bed and chassis dyno applications.
* Experience with rig/laboratory-based technical testing and evaluation processes in ICE systems, with a comprehensive engineering understanding.
* Desire to develop your own and your team's technical knowledge in the field.
* Ability to evaluate and explain test methodologies and facility capabilities.
* Good understanding of laboratory equipment capabilities and flexibility.
* Strong activity execution, planning, and program management skills.
* Effective communication and influencing skills at operational levels.
* Experience working in a technically contributory role within an ICE engineering environment.
