1. Purpose of the Role
The Quality Engineer will ensure that internal systems and procedures meet accreditation standards while maintaining strong process control to meet customer requirements. This role is key in driving continuous improvement, investigating non-conformance, managing KPIs, and ensuring product safety and legality throughout all stages of production. The position involves regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Scope of the Role
This role is based on-site at the Leicester facility and covers all aspects of quality control, assurance, and improvement across the operation.
3. Key Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
Prioritising health & safety across all activities.
Responding to emerging quality issues, implementing containment actions, and verifying non‑conforming products or materials.
Conducting process validation, and writing procedures and reports.
Carrying out internal audits (process and operational).
Updating, reviewing, and maintaining Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and manuals.
Leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitoring and supporting the achievement of Quality KPIs.
Raising and managing supplier non‑conformities.
Promoting quality awareness and customer requirements across the business.
Generating and communicating quality statistics and KPI reports.
Investigating customer complaints.
Identifying personal training requirements to support performance and development.
Driving a positive quality culture site-wide.
Participating in the HACCP team to ensure timely identification of process risks.
Understanding and implementing customer and standards requirements effectively.
Deputising for the Quality Manager when required.
Supporting other duties aligned with business needs.4. Experience & Background Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar quality-focused role.
Minimum 2 years within a manufacturing environment.
Experience within FMCG manufacturing is ideal.5. Technical & Specialist Knowledge
Functional Knowledge
Level 2 HACCP certification.
Internal auditor training.
Experience using Lean tools (VSM, 5S, problem solving, SIC, Six Sigma).Problem Solving Skills
CAPA experience, including root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions.
Familiarity with tools such as 5 Whys, FMEA, and PDCA.Impact & Behaviour
