Overview
This role provides a uniformed specialist service to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff. It includes advising and protecting people and property, handling emergency situations, and liaising with emergency services in line with legislation and Trust policies.
Responsibilities
* Operate CCTV and associated systems in compliance with the Data Protection Act, Human Rights Act, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act and Trust policies; report and respond to incidents in a timely and professional manner.
* Accurately record and log all incidents in the Control Room Daily Occurrence Book and take appropriate action.
* Monitor movement of vehicular traffic and parking, respond to incidents by deploying resources as needed, and report obstructions or hazards.
* Control room duties include CCTV systems, recording media, access systems, alarm systems, telephone and messaging systems, computer systems, and fault logging systems.
* Liaise with Police, Fire Brigade and other emergency services; assist in search of buildings and preservation of life; provide guidance and support to callers.
* Restrict access to the site and regulate movement of traffic and pedestrians; assist in Major Incident Plan implementation where required.
* Maintain security of cash movements on site via CCTV; ensure equipment and infrastructure faults are reported and escalated appropriately.
* Be vigilant to hazards; report spillages, cleanliness issues, broken glass, graffiti, and other factors affecting safety or image; coordinate with relevant managers to rectify.
* Support the Security Management Team during incidents and provide courteous telephone assistance to callers.
* Manage security staff radio and communications equipment; ensure ID badges are worn; operate in smart Trust-approved uniform.
* Maintain cleanliness of the work base and adhere to Trust policies at all times.
* Carry out other duties as reasonably required by the line manager and participate in ongoing reviews of the job description and person specification.
Qualifications
* Valid SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Licence required at all times on duty; if expiry is within 3 months or licence is revoked, report immediately to Security Administrative Assistant.
Working Conditions
Office-based environment with a need for concentration to monitor activity across the campus. Occasional exposure to aggressive behaviour and rare exposure to viewing potentially distressing incidents.
Shift work includes 12-hour days and nights, weekends and bank holidays on a 4 on/5 off rota; overtime may be available. The team works closely together and values good interpersonal skills.
