Kratos Analytical are global leaders in surface analysis instrumentation, our XPS systems are installed in leading University’s and Corporate research centres around the world working on new materials challenges as diverse as development of new biomaterials, carbon capture to achieve net zero targets and EV battery development.An opportunity exists to join our Customer Support Team at our Manchester HQ as a Customer Support Service Engineer with frequent travel (~50%) to continental Europe, occasionally further afield. The role would suit a customer facing candidate, comfortable with the operation and maintenance of complex instrumentation and a passion for travel.ResponsibilitiesOn customer site installation of upgrades, delivery of warranty work, ad-hoc maintenance and planned preventative maintenance visitsTesting of repaired units before returning to customersObtaining customer acceptance for all work doneProviding customer technical supportProviding appropriate customer trainingSupporting continuous improvement initiatives with close interactions with R&DQualificationsDegree level qualification in Electronics*, Physics* or Mechanical Engineering* (*with experience and background in scientific instrumentation preferred)- EssentialExperienceKnowledge of techniques such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and the ability to demonstrate a background in scientific instrumentation would be a distinct advantageJob Related Aptitude and SkillsExcellent problem-solving skills (E)Good personal time management skills (E)Good communication skills are required at all levels (E)Strong Customer Service skills and a professional manner in customer facing environments (E)Note - On successful completion of probation, a frequent traveller allowance will be added to your salary.We welcome applications from graduates who have studied a relevant degree.We know that great talent comes in many forms and you don't need to meet every requirement to make a strong contribution.
