Are you keen to engage with customers and young people within our Housing Related Support service, ensuring they remain safe within their homes at all times? If so, our Night Porter role at Peterborough HRS could be the perfect job for you…
Longhurst Group is a leading housing Group across the Midlands & East of England, committed to enhancing communities and improving the lives of both our colleagues and customers. With a mission to provide quality, safe, affordable housing that build great foundations for our customers, our Supported Housing team are critical to providing adults (aged 18+) with a safe home to live, learn and thrive, and ultimately become empowered to fulfil their potential.
As a Night Porter at Longhurst Group, you will be responsible for listening, motivating, guiding and advocating for our customers – you’ll be helping to provide opportunities for a more independent and better life. With each individual you will help them to make the link between housing, training, and employment, thus providing a steppingstone to independence. Our Night Porter role will enable you to support adults through helping them to gain a sense of identity & confidence. Further responsibilities are below:
* Build and maintain relationships with individuals and external agencies to encourage general wellbeing and social interaction.
* Offer assistance to our customers and other colleagues, including telephone support, monitoring of CCTV via remote view and / or occasionally attendance at other services when needed.
* Ensure that individuals are supported in understanding and managing their tenancy, maximising their income, paying their rent and utilities, reporting repairs, and using available facilities.
* Carry out and record hourly security checks of the building.
* Ensure the security surveillance equipment is working efficiently and report any faults.
* Help the customers understand the responsibilities of holding their licence agreement – particularly with respect to keeping the property in a clean and tidy state, not causing a nuisance to neighbours and paying rent. This will also include cashing up the rents on weekly basis, issuing relevant Rent Arrears letters when required.
Our Night Porter role is based at Peterborough HRS and contracted to 35 hours per week, Monday – Sunday (9.45pm – 8.15am and until 8.45pm - 10am on weekends) and split across a 3-week rolling rota.
This is a hugely exciting time to join Longhurst Group – not only are we continuously striving to achieve better results for our customers, but the Social Housing sector is at a crucial point with new measures, legislations and standards coming into effect imminently.
