An exciting opportunity has become available for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist looking to specialise further or a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with interest in Neuropsychiatry to join our team at Cygnet Brunel.
Cygnet Brunel is a 32-bed Neuropsychiatric service, offering neuropsychiatric rehabilitation for individuals with complex acquired brain injury and mental health needs.
The hospital is a modern facility specifically designed to provide a clinically led, evidence-based neuropsychiatric pathway for individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge.

Main duties of the job
Job Role
* Assess speech, communication, and language needs (SCLN) of patients with complex needs across all environments.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to support therapeutic and neuropsychiatric approaches, helping to upskill staff.
* Operate within the SLT pathway for neuropsychiatric/neurodegenerative services as part of a small on-site team.
* Provide quality assessments and interventions, skilled in SCLN and dysphagia.
* Contribute to the wider SLT service and service improvements.

Job Role
As an SLT, you will work with a caseload of patients with complex needs to assess their speech, communication, and language needs (SCLN) across all settings. You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to implement therapeutic approaches and support staff development. Operating within the SLT pathway for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions, you will provide assessments and interventions, including dysphagia management. You will also contribute to the broader SLT service and initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
* A degree/postgraduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy, HCPC registration, and RCSLT membership.
* Experience with neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions, preferably in inpatient or acute settings.
* Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and person-centered planning.
* Qualification in Dysphagia management (training provided if needed).
* Strong team player with a genuine desire to help others.
* Enthusiasm, motivation, and passion.
