Senior Quantity Surveyor – Water Treatment Team (Capital Commercial Department)
Position may be based in Derby with the opportunity to work from Coventry.
Overview
We are looking for experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors to join our Capital Programme. The role encompasses procurement strategy, contract negotiation, contract management and potential leadership areas within supply chain management.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop effective procurement strategies.
* Evaluate procurement routes and recommend the most suitable approach (direct award or mini competition).
* Ensure procurement processes align with project goals, budget and internal governance.
* Challenge supplier prices and forecasts using general principles of estimating and critical thinking.
* Engage with contractors via single source or mini competition.
* Draft clear and comprehensive NEC 4 Option A, C and E contracts.
* Negotiate favourable terms, pricing and contractual agreements.
* Ensure all parties understand their obligations and responsibilities.
* Mitigate risks by addressing potential disputes and contingencies.
* Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.
* Administer NEC 4 Option A, C and E contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
* Assess interim and final payment applications.
* Maintain comprehensive records of project‑related financial data.
* Support project managers in the assessment of early warnings and compensation events.
* Collaborate with project teams for accurate cost estimation and control.
* Ensure compliance with contract terms, obligations and internal governance.
* Engage in management of framework documents, works orders, services orders, secondment agreements, e‑sourcing and SAP.
* Manage supply chain partners, consultants and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
• Prior senior or pre‑contract quantity surveying experience with procurement background.
• Demonstrated proficiency in influencing stakeholders and managing relationships.
• Strong organisational, communication and negotiation skills.
• Initiative, self‑reliance and ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise workloads.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as required.
Transferable skills from other sectors are welcome; we provide support to develop qualifications through sponsorship and training.
