Base pay range
Salary: £26,596.80 - £31,003 rising to £33,264 - £38,754 & Excellent Benefits including Government Pension
Location: Hybrid Working/Winfrith, Dorchester
Hours per week: The salary range will be £26,596.80 - £31,003 rising to £33,264 - £38,754 upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this.Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon & Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same scale.
About the role: Apprenticeship Information
This role is an apprenticeship opportunity with the successful candidate expected to complete a level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship course over 24 months with a final end point assessment.
The position is for 37 hours a week, but please note that this includes one day protected study time for completion of the online course requirements.
The Role
Do you feel that you have an analytical mindset and enjoy working with data? This is a rare and exciting apprenticeship opportunity to join the Corporate Development team who work at the heart of Dorset Police, with responsibility for providing the Force with reliable and meaningful information to help inform decision making around resourcing and planning for the future.
As you develop your skills through the apprenticeship learning you will gain practical workplace experience in several areas including:
* identifying emerging issues affecting policing both locally and nationally
* using threat assessment matrices to aid prioritisation
* extracting data from our police systems for use in analysis
* writing analytical reports to give the force insights into the profile of different crime types in Dorset
* assessing progress against force priorities
* contributing to the production of the annual Force Management Statement which establishes how the force is faring around current and future demand balanced against our capacity and capability.
This is a varied role which is integral to the Corporate Development function and offers the successful candidate a fulfilling job opportunity.
Application and Assessment
As this is an apprenticeship you only need to provide evidence on your application in relation to Criteria A, C, D, E and F. Evidence against criteria B and G is NOT required. Please be aware that as an apprenticeship entry, there is no expectation that you are currently able to fully meet ALL the criteria within the job description for the Strategic Analyst role but we would ask you to evidence your current experience and academic achievement relevant to the criteria to enable an assessment of your aptitude for the role.
As part of the interview process there will be a short assessment. No preparation is required, and all material needed will be provided to you on the day. The exercise will involve being presented with some tables of data and you will be asked to highlight some key findings to present in both written format and verbally to the interviewers.
