About The Role
North Northamptonshire is currently on an exciting journey to transform its buildings and infrastructure. We are seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our Capital Projects team.
You will be responsible for delivering a range of capital construction projects or a programme of works from £25k to £25M. Your role will involve developing project briefs in collaboration with internal/external stakeholders—funders, services, and end users—and overseeing projects through design, specification, delivery, and completion.
You will lead construction projects by either directly managing smaller projects, procuring and managing contractors, or by managing external design and delivery teams for larger projects. These projects are based across North Northamptonshire, requiring attendance at site meetings or office meetings about twice a week.
The role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously across various council departments, including education, children’s services, leisure, assets, and communities.
If interested or seeking more information, please contact Victoria Phillipson at victoria.phillipson@northnorthants.gov.uk.
What will you be doing?
1. Construction Project Management – delivering projects from brief through design and delivery.
2. Developing Project Briefs – understanding and interpreting the council’s strategic estate vision, especially in education, children’s services, leisure, and community sectors.
3. Stakeholder Management – building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Risk & Issue Management – developing, managing, and monitoring project risks and issues, ensuring they are costed and mitigated.
5. Finance – cost planning, business case development, managing project budgets, and maximizing value for money.
6. Procurement – identifying, procuring, and awarding contracts for professional services, surveys, design teams, and contractors.
7. Leadership – motivating and managing project teams and working groups to achieve project outcomes, developing internal and external relationships to overcome challenges.
About You
The successful candidate will be adaptable, with flexibility to accommodate project changes due to strategy, regulations, or outcomes. The role is primarily remote, with attendance at project sites and meetings approximately twice a week.
You should have a degree or equivalent experience, with a relevant project management qualification, and extensive experience managing complex construction projects. Knowledge of local authority processes, governance, approvals, and procurement is essential.
