Salary: £53,544 per annum

Responsibilities
* Ensure the team delivers high‑quality legal services and manage and supervise legal teams advocating for clients with housing issues.
* Use evidence from frontline casework to bring about systemic change in partnership with Policy and Campaigns, national policy influence and strategic litigation.
* Provide professional support through supervision, mentoring and keeping the team up to date with developments in housing, welfare and public law.
* Shape local plans and priorities in line with Shelter’s wider strategy, oversee financial and contract performance, best practice, audits and quality reviews.
* Develop talent and succession planning across the national legal team, and lead by example to embed Shelter’s values across the organisation.
About You
* Experienced housing or public law solicitor (or equivalent) with strong leadership ability or potential.
* Knowledge of what makes a good legal service and experience supervising or supporting colleagues.
* Capability to turn insight into action, spotting trends and using evidence to bring about change and adapt as needed.
* Ability to lead with integrity, curiosity and motivate others through change and challenges.

Legal teams (Managing Solicitors, Solicitors, Legal Advisors and Trainees) are based across England: London, Plymouth, Dorset, Bristol, Norwich, Birmingham, Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Sheffield and Newcastle.
