Job Title: Customer Development Manager

Alexander Steele is working exclusively with a globally successful alcoholic spirits business that boasts a portfolio of market-leading brands and is experiencing significant growth.

They are expanding their On Trade sales team with the recruitment of a Customer Development Manager on an initial 12-month contract.


Location:

Field Based – Central Scotland


Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage a portfolio of customer accounts to meet and exceed sales targets in volume and value.
2. Increase distribution and sales within a diverse customer base, developing robust JBPs/JMPs.
3. Differentiate brands through innovative in-outlet activation to maximize brand visibility.
4. Build and maintain relationships with key customers and groups, becoming the preferred supplier.
5. Train and educate outlet team members on product serves and cocktail creation to enhance ROS.
6. Proactively seek new business opportunities to expand the on-trade customer base.
7. Provide insights on customer performance and drive actions for growth.
8. Maintain accurate communication with the supply team regarding promotions, activations, and distribution changes.
9. Collaborate across UK and international departments.
10. Develop strong product knowledge and stay informed on market trends across beers, wines, and spirits.


Experience and Skills Required:

1. 1-2 years’ experience in sales, marketing, or related fields within the on-trade sector.
2. Experience with branded drinks and cocktail usage is advantageous.
3. Entrepreneurial, ambitious, and self-motivated with target-driven focus.
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
5. Strong commercial and financial understanding with analytical skills to interpret performance data.
6. Ability to manage projects, multitask, and build relationships at all levels.
7. Experience managing key accounts and developing commercial relationships.
8. Proactive, independent, and comfortable handling uncertainty.
9. Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
10. Passionate about spirits.
