The role
We are outstanding, you can be too. We are looking for a passionate and motivated Hospitality & Catering Instructor to support the delivery of practical, hands-on training at our vibrant Nottingham Campus (Woodborough Road). This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by helping our learners to develop essential life and industry skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. What you will be doing: • Supporting the delivery of engaging, practical hospitality and catering sessions • Enabling learners with SEND to access vocational learning and develop independence and employability skills • Teaching and supporting core skills, such as food preparation, kitchen safety, customer service, and teamwork, whilst embedding employability, health and wellbeing, and digital skills into sessions • Assisting in the running of a coffee shop-style training environment for real-world learning • Ensuring safe working practices in line with food hygiene and health & safety standards What we are looking for: • A relevant qualification in hospitality/catering or significant industry experience, and knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety, and industry standards • The ability to motivate and engage learners through practical, hands-on activities • Strong instructional and organisational skills with a calm, supportive approach • Experience of supporting individuals to develop practical or vocational skills • Resilient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive practice • Experience of working with SEND learners If you would like to be part of a supportive and passionate education team, working closely with specialist tutors and support staff to create meaningful, industry-relevant learning experiences, we look forward to hearing from you! *This role will involve working across both of our Nottingham sites (Woodborough Road and Forest Road West). Qualifications needed Essential • Recognised qualification in relevant subject sector or substantial industry experience within the hospitality/catering sector • Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to work towards within 12 months) Desirable • Education and Training Level 3 or 4 (or willingness to work towards within 12 months) Systematic Instructor training Working Hours Monday – Friday – 8:45am – 4:45pm Applying to work at Portland Charity There are some other important things you need to know before you apply to work with us at Portland Charity.
