Job Title: Painter and Decorator
Type: Full Time / Permanent / 40 hours per week / Weekend Work
Location: Be based in Midlands - Manchester Leeds Huddersfield Sheffield Leicester - Travel to our nurseries - up to 2 hours of travel each way is possible
Salary: up to £33k + Car Allowance / Driving Licence and Vehicle Essential for this role

Purpose of the Role:
To create and maintain safe, vibrant, and welcoming environments across all Bright Horizons nursery locations by delivering high-quality painting and decorating services. The Painter/Decorator plays a key role in ensuring that each nursery reflects the brand’s commitment to child-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and hygienic spaces that support early years development. This role supports the overall well-being of children, staff, and visitors by upholding high standards of presentation and safety in all decorative finishes.
Responsibilities:
1. Following senior FM identification, Attend to Survey and evaluate the size and condition of the surfaces to be decorated and any preliminary works that may need to be carried out.
2. Prepare a written estimate of Time and materials required and Budget costs to complete the job including hours of work agreed with Nursery Manager.
3. Coordinate, plan, and action the decoration requirements in the Nursery. Ensure the Nursery’s safety and the NM expectations are met.
4. Identify the most suitable type of Paint based on company Spec and requirements to ensure best possible results in the agreed colours, this may involve mixing or dilution of paints. Submit order Request.
5. Complete risk assessments prior to commencement of work, preparing work
6. areas and considering use of ladders, towers and other equipment, to ensure safe system of works in place prior to commencement. Ensure Furniture is moved, and areas not being decorated protected.
7. Preparing all surfaces to be decorated to ensure smooth, even, and clean, if necessary, removal of items secured to walls to enable clean finish. Filling Holes/Cracks using plaster, fillers, or sealants.
8. Decorate the prepared walls in accordance with the brief and plan.
9. Once painting is completed, decorators are to remove any Items used, remove any protective sheets, tapes etc. and dispose suitably, put back any items removed from walls securely, place furniture back in rooms and ensure work areas are checked and cleaned.
10. Ensure all tools are cleaned and stored safely for future use following all H&S regulations.
11. Final report to be completed detailing works completed Using CAFM system including Photographs, materials used, materials disposed of and inventory of items to be carried over to future jobs.

Essential Experience:
18. 2/3 Years practical hands-on experience in interior and exterior painting or completion of Apprenticeship or trainee scheme
19. Skilled in preparing a variety of surfaces (e.g., plaster, wood, metal) and applying different finishes such as emulsion, gloss, and wallpaper.
20. Confident in using brushes, rollers, sprayers, sanding tools, and other decorating equipment safely and effectively
21. Sense of form and colour
22. Familiarity with COSHH regulations, safe handling of materials, and working in compliance with safeguarding policies in environments with children.
23. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality finishes with a strong eye for detail and consistency.
24. Experience working across multiple locations or sites, ideally within a facilities or maintenance team.

28. Basic computer skills for logging maintenance tasks, accessing digital work orders, or communicating via email or internal systems.
