Job Summary
Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Infant Feeding Lead Coordinator to join the Family Health Infant Feeding Support Team (Band 7). The role is responsible for leading infant feeding strategy across both Maternity and Neonatal services, driving forward the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) accreditation and ensuring equitable, high‑quality support for all families.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of infant feeding services across the division.
* Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of infant feeding policies and practice in line with BFI standards.
* Coordinate and support a multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent, evidence‑based care.
* Ensure robust governance, data collection and reporting mechanisms are in place.
* Work collaboratively across services and boundaries.
* Deliver staff training and education programmes to embed best practice in infant feeding.
* Perform and present regular audits to assess progress towards BFI re‑accreditation.
* Set up and chair a Trust Infant Feeding Baby Friendly Steering Group, engaging all relevant stakeholders including parent representatives.
* Develop action plans to achieve BFI standards with support from the Steering Group.
* Schedule BFI assessment visits in consultation with the BFI Professional Officer and organise and prepare for visits.
* Demonstrate improvement through benchmarking plans and provide reports for presentation to the Family Health Divisional Board.
* Provide a specialist service for women requiring additional support with infant feeding, performing comprehensive assessment of care needs, planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care.
* Demonstrate clinical expertise in breastfeeding and credibility through knowledge.
Eligibility & Conditions
* Band 7 NHS role; salary and benefits are commensurate with Band 7.
* Applicants must hold a valid DBS clearance; the cost of DBS applications will be recovered via salary (standard £26.40 or enhanced £54.40).
* Applicants must confirm employment within the University Hospitals of Liverpool Group if applying as an internal staff member.
