Job Description:
About The Role
We are currently recruiting for August 2024. Please review the Placements Map before applying, which shows all Place2Be Partner schools. Ensure you can travel to one or more schools from this map. We will try our best to accommodate your preferences. Counsellors on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation that adopts the BACP ethical framework, our counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being.
* Place2Be offers high-level support through supervision, tailored training workshops, and a well-recognised clinical placement.
* We provide a comprehensive induction and daily clinical supervision.
* You need to be available for at least one day per week to work therapeutically with up to 3 children, offering one-to-one counselling.
* Placements are term-time only, lasting one academic year, with opportunities for extension.
* You can attend up to six optional workshops per year, recognized as CPD.
* Sessions with children count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, recognized by BACP and UKCP.
* This placement can be a stepping stone into a career with Place2Be; over two-thirds of our clinical staff were once Counsellors on Placement.
* We have positions available in primary and secondary schools nationwide.
Counting your hours
All clinical hours can be used towards accreditation with bodies like BACP and UKCP. Check with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your course. If not, you can apply as a second placement to gain experience working with children and young people.
Diversity and Inclusion
Place2Be is committed to equal opportunities and encourages applications from all community sections, especially Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. We are particularly interested in attracting male candidates to reflect community diversity. All successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS/PVG disclosure.
Training availability
Mandatory training sessions include:
* Safeguarding Induction (1 day): 28th September, 27th October
* Placement Introductory Workshop (2 days): 7-8 October, 2-3 December, 13-14 January, 9-10 March
About You
You will be a fully qualified Counsellor, Therapist, or Clinical Psychologist, or studying towards one of these at the following levels:
* Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above), or a full academic year Certificate Course in Counselling (9-12 months)
* Degree, MSc, or MA in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or Psychotherapy, with relevant experience if in first year
We are always seeking suitable counsellors on placement. If you believe you can thrive in this environment, please apply.
