SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant
Location: Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP and September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Monarch Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Special Needs School in Tamworth that caters to pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). The school provides education for both primary and secondary-aged pupils and is looking for a compassionate and skilled SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team.

About The Role
* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis with a focus on SEMH needs
* Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning plans designed by teachers and the SENCO
* Supporting emotional regulation, de-escalating challenging behaviour, and promoting positive engagement
* Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams
* Providing consistent, structured support across both primary and secondary phases within the school
* Encouraging independence, confidence, and communication skills among pupils
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
* Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs
* Be calm, patient, and resilient, with a compassionate approach to challenging situations
* Demonstrate a good understanding of emotional and behavioural regulation strategies
* Be confident working with pupils aged 5 to 16, across a variety of learning and social needs
* Be a strong communicator, able to build rapport with pupils, staff, and parents
* Be adaptable, flexible, and able to respond to the varying needs of a mixed-age school setting
