Role: Lead Engineer – Test Mechanical
Location: Warrington, Derby or Manchester
Salary: £57,000 - £75,600 + Excellent benefits

Our Development Engineering team ensures that our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) design meets its objectives across thermal-hydraulics, mechanical systems, controls & instrumentation, environmental science, and materials & chemistry. Reporting to the Manager – Test Delivery, the Lead Engineer – Test Mechanical will lead fluid mechanical interactions testing, supporting various test programs including flow-induced vibration testing.
This role involves collaboration with plant design leads and technical specialists. A key responsibility is coaching engineers, developing team capability, and reviewing technical outputs. The role also includes acting as an interface with the Supply Chain team to manage external suppliers and partners, especially in flow-induced vibration and vibration analysis.
We seek candidates with significant experience in regulated industries, particularly in fluid mechanics. The salary is commensurate with experience.

Selection criteria:
* Test Programme Expertise: Proven experience in defining and executing critical test programs, including scaled testing.
* Mechanical Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, vibration analysis, and manufacturing techniques.
* Design and Documentation Skills: Ability to develop design solutions and produce technical documentation.
* Systems Thinking and Risk Awareness: Methodical problem-solving with an understanding of risk management.
* Communication and Leadership: Excellent interpersonal skills, stakeholder influence, and team leadership.
