We are currently looking for a General Plant Operative to join our friendly team based at our Tarmac Cross Green Asphalt Plant in Leeds, Yorkshire. This role is easily accessible from Leeds, Rothwell, Oulton, Swillington, Garforth, Wetherby, Whinmoor, Oakwood, Bradford, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Headingley, Otley, Castleford, Pontefract, Halifax and the surrounding areas.
This role will be working 48hrs per week Monday to Friday.
The role of General Plant Operative gives you the opportunity to be part of our Ofsted outstanding Professional Operator Development Programme (PODP). We're passionate about development and progression here at Tarmac, and PODP provides an excellent foundation, giving you the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and confidence to be successful both personally and professionally. On completion of the programme you will receive the Level 2 apprenticeship certification and the Industry recognised vocational qualification for the job role.

Main Responsibilities
As the successful candidate for the role of General Plant Operative you will be a part of the Multi-Skilled Operative team which produces dry aggregates material for the construction industry. As well as delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations.
The role of General Plant Operative will specifically focus on operational tasks including:
Operating the on site asphalt plant to produce various different ttype of asphalt product.
Driving efficiencies and plant optimisation.
Working with aggregates on site and operating machinery as per the role of General Plant Operative (including operating mobile plant).
Day to day maintenance,maintaining the highest levels of housekeeping
Maintenance and driving a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety
Compliance and awareness Health and Safety measure around the site
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of General Plant Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar production environment as an operative. As well as possess good communication skills and have a real desire in developing both operative and supervisory skills.
As part of an operational team, suitable candidates for this role will also:
Be flexible and able to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operative team
Be self motivated and able to motivate other colleagues in the team
Be compliant and engage with company policies, targets,goals and standards
Be IT literate
