Consultant General Paediatrics & Named Doctor Children’s Safeguarding
The role involves providing high-quality care to patients, including all aspects of treatment and management duties for the proper functioning of the Care Group. The post requires shared responsibility for 24/7 cover on a rota basis, including covering colleagues' leave and sickness.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing clinical supervision of junior medical/dental practitioners.
2. Carrying out teaching, examinations, and contributing to CPD and clinical governance initiatives.
3. Managing outpatient clinics in GP practices as agreed with the Care Group's management.
4. Contributing to research, audit programmes, Morbidity and Mortality reviews, Clinical Governance, and Learning from Deaths initiatives.
5. Participating in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of the Care Group's Business Plan.
6. Ensuring activities are within the contracted service levels and operating plans.
7. Providing professional leadership within the specialty, fostering projects, and supporting postgraduate education and training.
8. Collaborating with colleagues to maintain staff productivity and job satisfaction, including involvement in appraisals.
9. Undertaking management duties as agreed with the relevant managers.
10. Complying with all infection prevention and control policies.
11. Preparing for and undertaking protective interventions in line with evidence-based practices to ensure patient safety.
12. Contributing to the provision of Consultant-led 7-day services.
