Permanent, Part Time (0.7)

The School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Professional at Kingston College is seeking a Lecturer to teach both HE and FE vocational courses related to Engineering within the school, for full-time, access, and apprenticeship students. You will be responsible for the delivery, conduct, and progress of students on these courses in line with College and School policies and procedures, ensuring high-quality provision.

Your main responsibility will be to teach on Level 4/5 HNC and HND Engineering courses, covering units such as Engineering Design and Thermodynamics. The STEP school also offers Access courses for 19+ learners, such as Access to Engineering and Access to Computing. On the Access to Engineering course, you will deliver units like Motion, Energy & Forces, and Thermal Properties of Matter.

You will also teach Mathematics on various programmes, primarily for adult and 18+ learners, including units such as numerical methods, algebra, trigonometry, and maths for computing, across Access to Engineering and Access to Computing courses. Additionally, you will teach on FE vocational courses related to Engineering, including Further Mathematics units for BTEC Level 3 Engineering students.

We seek candidates with a relevant degree or higher-level qualification (e.g., HND) in an appropriate subject, along with professional industry qualifications and/or experience in an engineering environment. Experience in delivering training or teaching engineering in an educational setting is essential. Candidates should have knowledge relevant to the curriculum, hold or be willing to obtain a teaching qualification, and have participated in recent professional development.

You should be adept at using new technologies to enhance teaching and learning, aware of academic quality standards, and open to new ideas and initiatives. Strong planning, organisational, administrative skills, and attention to detail are required. Good IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email, are essential.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any salary increase resulting from the annual cost of living review in the upcoming academic year.

The benefits will be pro-rated for part-time staff.
