We are looking for a Lead Network Engineerto join our team with the Defence and National Security sector. You will provide hands-on technical leadership, in the development, operation and ongoing improvement of complex services. Ensure that high level analysis and design work for new initiatives is carried out to estimate resource requirements, decide on feasibility and produce high level costs. You will also have people management responsibilities.
Working closely with security, architecture, and delivery teams, you will ensure network platforms are secure, high-performing, and maintainable long-term.
Ideally you will be holding Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent qualifications, have excellent working knowledge of VMware and/or Proxmox as well as exposure and experience in Router, Switch, Firewall build, configuration and monitoring. Knowledge of VPN/GRE and Cisco ISE is also required.
This role requires on-site working in Farnborough 5 days a week.
Candidates should be eligible for SC clearance and willing to obtain DV clearance.
What you will be doing:
1. Collaborate with delivery teams and partners to break down technical requirements and define key API needs for internal and external system integration.
2. Ensure new and updated platforms, products, and transactions are thoroughly tested, performant, scalable, and maintainable.
3. Lead technical delivery projects, providing guidance on software architecture, mentoring developers, and serving as an embedded Design Authority resource.
4. Mentor software developers and foster a culture of continuous delivery, improvement, and innovation.
5. Develop web and mobile products to meet citizens’ needs, implementing APIs for internal and external use.
6. Participate in 2nd-line application and platform support, including occasional out-of-hours work.
7. Promote innovation focused on delivering value and quality outcomes on time.
8. Motivate teams by setting clear priorities, objectives, and expectations, and maintain performance under challenging circumstances.
What you will bring:
9. Good knowledge of core Cisco Networking technologies covering switching, routing, Unified Communications
10. Knowledge of Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems.
11. Firewall design and Configuration.
12. Managing IT Security Solutions (Policy Based, Physical, Environment Hardening & Software) & Provisioning and Implementation)
13. Security monitoring platforms such as SEIM Endpoint Management (Device Control, Data Protection, Application Control etc.)
It would be great if you had:
14. Experience of new WAN technologies such as Ectocrypt blue and Nexus switches. ACI, NSX.
