We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop lighting systems and components for next-generation products supplied to leading global aircraft manufacturers. This role is ideal for an engineer with deep technical expertise, a passion for aerospace innovation, and the drive to deliver solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical design of components, assemblies, and systems across the full product lifecycle.
* Develop CAD models, detailed drawings, and documentation to support manufacturing, testing and certification.
* Perform engineering analyses (thermal, stress, tolerance, FEA) to validate design performance.
* Collaborate with aircraft OEMs and cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, certification, supply chain) to ensure seamless integration into aircraft platforms.
* Apply principles of DFM to ensure designs are efficient, cost-effective, and production ready.
* Ensure compliance with aerospace regulations, specifications, and customer requirements (e.g., FAA, EASA, AS9100).
* Research new materials, technologies, and processes to drive innovation.
* Support prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical designs.
What will make you successful in this role (skills)
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* 7+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
* Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
* Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
