This Engineering Trainer role is responsible for managing and developing a comprehensive teaching and learning experience, covering practical and theoretical skills within current apprenticeship standards.
The role involves delivering high-quality technical training to small groups through face-to-face or online methods and developing softer skills embedded within apprenticeships. Regular constructive feedback and recording learners' progress are essential.
Key Activities:
1. Deliver mechanical-based knowledge and practical subjects at levels 2, 3, and HTC/HNC – L4, fostering independent learners.
2. Provide practical training in Hand Fitting, Assembly, Turning, Milling, and CNC programming/operating.
3. Support apprentice progression towards successful completion.
4. Manage physical learning resources and teaching spaces to ensure effective training within guided hours.
5. Create learning content, develop resources, schemes of work, and assessment materials.
6. Coordinate integration of relevant industry training offers into the apprenticeship scheme.
7. Monitor the learning environment.
8. Ensure health, safety, and welfare of learners in the workplace, working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Knowledge:
* Strong background in practical engineering, preferably multi-skilled in Mechanical/Electrical disciplines.
* Experience in Milling, Turning, CNC Programming/Manufacturing.
* Understanding of assessment methods, End Point Assessment, Safeguarding, and the Prevent Duty.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Level 3 Engineering qualification.
* Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
* Recognised Assessor qualification or willingness to gain one, such as A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
Desirable:
* Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English (grade C or above).
* Recognised Quality Assurance qualification, such as V1 or Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
* Recognised coaching qualification.
* Higher Education qualification (Level 4 or above) in an Engineering discipline.
