Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who would like to join our friendly and supportive outpatient Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service. We have one part time post available, based at Leigh Infirmary and community settings within the Wigan borough on a weekly basis.

Duties are varied (both clinical and non-clinical) and the successful applicants will be involved directly in the assessment, care and treatment of patients with a variety of conditions, under the supervision of qualified therapists.

A caring and considerate manner is essential to the post. We would expect the candidates to have a good level of general education, competent computer literacy and data entry skills with knowledge of Physiotherapy interventions.

This role includes working across the WWL footprint including community settings, therefore the postholder must be able to travel independently across sites to fulfil the duties of the role.

Previous experience of working in a relevant health related area would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

To work as an integral and active part of the Pelvic Health Team and work collaboratively with the wider pelvic health services within WWL. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the pelvic health team in a clinical role under supervision of qualified staff; supporting women and men with problems relating to pelvic floor dysfunction.

This post also includes responsibility for the administrative duties and responsibilities relating to pelvic health.


Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* Contribute to the overall Physiotherapy process by carrying out a basic review of patients and conduct procedures within agreed competency levels including: Physiotherapy patients, Maternity patients, Community Hubs, 1:1 or group sessions.
* Gain the required knowledge and skills in the field of pelvic health and maintain these skills under supervision and support.
* Take part in training including Pelvic health team in service training, Mandatory training, Attain and maintain necessary competencies.
* Carry out information collection from patients/relatives as requested by Physiotherapy staff.
* Once competent, teach, supervise and progress treatment. This may include but not exclusively – Pelvic floor exercises, bladder health and retraining, bowel health, Information and exercise classes.
* Follow treatment plans as prescribed by Physiotherapy staff and identify and select activities that meet treatment goals.
* Plan and prioritise own workload.
* Work independently in a clinical setting with an assigned routine caseload, under the direction of a Physiotherapist.
* Triage pelvic health referrals and manage appointment bookings.
* Contribute to the administration functions of the service e.g. booking appointments.
* Undertake general housekeeping duties for the service.
* Document all care given ensuring compliance with trust and local guidelines.

Qualifications

* NVQ Level III/QCF training or equivalent courses.
* Evidence of basic level qualifications in both Maths and English.
* Evidenced training/ competencies achieved through current practical experience.
* GCSE or equivalent in English.
