Early Years Manager – Start April 2026
Job Purpose:Responsible for the day to day management of the setting. Developing and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment and ensuring a high quality provision is available to children and their parents. Leading the team and enabling children to engage in a range of play and learning opportunities. Link with parents and encourage working in partnership to support learning in the home.
Responsible to:Management Committee.
Responsible for: Deputy, Early Year’s Workers and Volunteers.
Job Details: £ 17.50 per hour.
Hours: 08:00 -16:30
Mon – Fri term-time only
Closing Date: 27/02/26
Main duties and responsibilities:
•To have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the setting~
•To develop a high quality child-centred setting that is in line with the EYFS and other legal requirements and legislation.
•To observe and support children with special educational needs. To seek appropriate support and/or work with/alongside external agencies.
•To have strong knowledge & understanding of safeguarding and policies/procedures/legislation related to this.
•To liaise with LA Lead teachers, attending Managers meetings.
•To liaise with BAND ensuring policies and procedures are correct and up to date with current legislation.
Children and Families:
•Ensure high quality early education and care enabling all children to reach their full potential.
•Co-ordinate intake with new families, offer introductory sessions and meet the individual needs of the child prior to starting.
•Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of children’s learning and development. Use observation and reflective practice to lead planning and evaluation of the setting.
•Ensure that the welfare of the children remains paramount and children are protected from risk of harm.
•Ensure developmental needs are met, accurately recorded and documented.
•Develop and maintain positive relationships with parent’s carers and work in partnership with them.
•Encourage and support parental/ carer involvement in the running of the nursery eg through questionnaires, parent volunteers.
•To ensure all parent’s/ carers are aware of the setting’s policies and procedures.
•To lead, support and develop an environment which is inclusive for all and recognises and encourages diversity.
•To have Special Educational Needs experience, identifying needs at an early stage to support children and their families.
•To maintain a child-centred environment by reviewing displays, resources and room lay out with the team.
•To maintain children’s safety and wellbeing at all times during attendance at the setting and on trips.
•To take any action required to ensure the safety and welfare of children and to report any concern immediately to the Safeguarding team.
Staff:
•To provide professional support and guidance to all staff.
•To work as a positive role model and member of the team
•To lead, develop and encourage good team working.
•To manage, support, supervise and provide termly supervision for staff- team and volunteers.
•To ensure staff and your own training and development needs are identified and met.
•To be responsible for staff rota and tracking staff leave/sickness/absence.
•To be responsible for staff recruitment in conjunction with the Management Committee.
•To be responsible for induction, support and monitoring of new staff during probationary periods.
•To ensure all staff are aware of the setting’s policies and procedures.
Finance and Administration:
•To be conscious of the financial situation of the setting with support from the Management Committee and finance department/admin.
•To work within an agreed budget.
•To develop and maintain administrative systems in line with statutory requirements. eg attendance registers; petty cash; fee taking; registration and session bookings.
General:
•To develop and implement policies and procedures in conjunction with the management committee and ensure these are adhered to.
•To be responsible for maintaining Health and Safety procedures alongside other legal requirements.
•Work towards quality assurance programmes using Bristol Standard format as a guide.
•To keep abreast of new childcare developments and legislation and action relevant ideas within the setting.
•To maintain positive working relationships with relevant external professionals and to work in partnership with other agencies.
•To provide feedback to the Management Committee on key issues or concerns.
•To represent the setting professionally at all times, maintaining the settings integrity and being open to giving and receiving feedback.
•To undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the management committee.
