Overview
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulatory Officer - Field Based
Based in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) team within Batteries, WEEE and Shipments, part of Environmental Markets and Regulation. National travel and overnight stays will be required. The team is distributed across England.
The Regulatory Officer will regulate a range of businesses operating within the Producer Responsibility regime, ensuring producers, reprocessors and exporters of waste comply with their responsibilities. The role is field-based and involves a mix of on-site and remote work.
Responsibilities
* Undertake audits (on site and virtual)
* Take appropriate enforcement action when necessary
* Disrupt non-compliance
* Collate and analyse complex data to support evidence-based regulatory decisions
* Handle confidential and sensitive information within data protection guidelines
* Contribute to the development and improvement of processes and procedures
The role is varied and challenging. You will work as part of a dispersed team while remaining self-motivated and disciplined.
Experience / Skills Required
* Effective, organised and able to prioritise
* Rational and composed
* IT/computer literate
* Comfortable with numbers and large data sets
* Passionate about the environment and willing to learn about environmental regulation and enforcement
* Able to handle confrontational situations
* Adapt communication style to suit others and work within a team
* Record information accurately
* Full UK clean driving licence is essential
Waste industry or regulatory experience is not necessary as full training is provided.
