Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a background in the nuclear sector for a long-term contract in Preston with hybrid working arrangements.
The role involves providing mechanical engineering design services to meet specified standards, regulations, and design governance procedures. Responsibilities include completing work packages to high standards of quality and safety, developing designs from concept through to final production hand-over, generating equipment specifications, initiating and assessing tenders, creating detailed drawings and documentation, and preparing commissioning and hand-over documents. The role also requires reviewing and checking designs and supervising supporting personnel, such as Mechanical Designers and Draughtsmen. Additionally, the engineer will oversee external design consultancies, ensuring quality and scope management.
The ideal candidate must have:
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams on mechanical design activities related to chemical process plant modifications or material handling equipment.
* Experience producing and adhering to design governance documentation such as Design Quality Plans, Risk Assessments, and Design Reviews.
* Proficiency with design software like AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, etc.
* Knowledge of the responsibilities of Designers under the CDM Regulations 2015.
* Relevant qualifications (HNC/degree) in Mechanical Design within a Design Office environment.
Desired experience includes:
* Designing for chemical plant environments, including mechanical services.
* Designing for nuclear facilities.
* Piping and vessel design experience.
