Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Permit to work coordinator on a 6 month contract based in Hartlepool.
Role Summary
The Permit to Work Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the permit to work (PTW) system within an organization. This role ensures that all work activities are planned and executed safely and in compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. The coordinator works closely with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to guarantee that all required permits are issued, tracked, and completed according to company and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the issuance, monitoring, and closeout of permits to work for all operational and maintenance activities. Ensure all work activities are aligned with the company's safety policies and procedures. Review work scope to identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed. Collaborate with different departments, including operations, maintenance, and safety, to ensure seamless communication and efficient permit approvals. Ensure that permit holders are trained and understand the responsibilities associated with working under a permit. Monitor ongoing work activities to verify compliance with permit conditions and safety standards. Maintain accurate records of issued permits and perform regular audits to ensure compliance. Organize and lead PTW meetings, ensuring that all parties are aware of the work activities and associated risks. Investigate incidents or accidents that occur during permitted work, providing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Continuously improve the permit to work system by reviewing and updating procedures as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field (preferred).Certification in Health, Safety, and Environmental Management or equivalent (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is a plus. Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within [industry].Strong understanding of risk management and health, safety, and environmental regulations. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to assess complex situations and make critical decisions under pressure. Proficiency in using permit tracking and management software.
