About the Role
Are you a graduate in Psychology or related field wanting to work in an educational setting making use of your skills? We are looking for someone to support young learners in Sunderland, particularly those who benefit from additional emotional, behavioural, or learning support. This is a hands-on role, ideal for graduates considering careers in educational psychology, mental health, or SEND support.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to support learners with SEMH, ADHD or other additional needs
* Assist in observations, data gathering, and contributing to pupil assessments
* Help implement strategies designed by psychologists / SENCOs to improve emotional wellbeing and engagement
* Support pupils in accessing the curriculum, literacy, numeracy or social skills work
* Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to plan and review pupil progress
Person Specification
* Degree in Psychology or closely related subject
* Strong desire to work with children or young people, particularly in SEND / SEMH contexts
* Good communication, writing and listening skills
* Patience, empathy, resilience, a positive mindset
* Willingness to learn tools and techniques relevant to school settings (e.g. mental health First Aid, behaviour interventions)
* DBS clearance or willingness to obtain

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
